How to make tax payment in GST?
Today I am going to share simple and easy steps for making GST payment online. If you are new in GST in India than this is very important for you to make your tax payment on time in GST. So lets start one by one.
What is Tax Payment?
The Tax payment in GST is a payment of tax to the government on the sale of goods or services or both. The supplier can make tax payment online through Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card and even at the bank counter. However, the supplier must pay such tax on or before the due date of GST payment. Following this article, you will learn how to create a GST payment challan, know the status of GST payment, download invoices and so on.
Features of New online Payment
In GST regime, the taxpayer need not have to wait in long que for making payment. Thus, making payments in GST is available online 24 X 7. Also, he gets instant online receipts for payments made online. Similarly, the GST Practitioners can make payments on behalf of their clients. Also, the taxpayer has to create a single Challan form, replacing the three or four copy Challan in past. This process brings the revenue earlier into the Government Treasury as compared to the old system. Also, this brings Greater transparency. Also, Online payments made after 8 pm gets credited to the taxpayer’s account on the same day.
How to Create payment Challan?
In order to make online payment, you must create a challan first. Thus, in order to create and generate a Challan without logging onto the GST Portal, perform the following steps:
1. Access the https://www.gst.gov.in/ URL. The GST Home page is displayed.
2. Navigate to Services > Payments > Create Challan option.
3. In the GSTIN/Other Id field, enter your GSTIN or Other ID.
4. In the Type the characters as displayed below field, enter the captcha text.
5. Click the PROCEED button.
6. In the Tax Liability Details grid, enter the details of payment to be made.
Note:
• You can enter any amount irrespective of your liability which will get updated in your Electronic Cash Ledger which can be utilized later.
- Amount entered under any Minor head (Tax, Interest, Penalty, Fee and Others) and Major Head (CGST, IGST, SGST/UTGST, Cess) can be utilized only for that liability. Cross-utilization among Major and Minor heads are not possible.
7. The Total Challan Amount field and Total Challan Amount (In words) fields are auto-populated with total amount of payment to be made.
8. In the Payment Modes option, select the appropriate choice.
9. To generate the Challan, click the GENERATE CHALLAN button.
How to make payment online?
1. Access the https://www.gst.gov.in/ URL. The GST Home page is displayed.
2. Click the Services > Payments > Create Challan command.
3. The Create Challan page is displayed. In the GSTIN/UIN/TRPID/TMPID field, enter your GSTIN.
Note:
• In case UN Bodies, Embassies, Government Offices or Other Notified persons wants to create a Challan in pre-login, they need to provide Unique Identification Number (UIN).
• In case Tax Return Preparers wants to create a Challan in pre-login, they need to provide Tax Return Preparer Identification Number (TRPID).
• In case unregistered dealer having temporary ID wants to create a Challan in pre-login, they need to provide Temporary Identification Number (TMPID).
4. In the Type the characters as displayed below field, enter the captcha text.
5. Click the PROCEED button.
6. In the Tax Liability Details grid, enter the details of payment to be made. The Total Challan Amount field and Total Challan Amount (In Words) fields are auto-populated with total amount of payment to be made.
7. Select the Mode of E-Payment.
In case of E-Payment
a. In the Payment Modes option, select the E-Payment as payment mode.
b. Click the GENERATE CHALLAN button.
c. The OTP Authentication box appears. In the Enter OTP field, enter the OTP sent on registered mobile number of the taxpayer whose GSTIN/UIN/TRPID/TMPID is entered.
d. Click the PROCEED button
e. The Challan is generated.
Note: You can also download the GST Challan by clicking the DOWNLOAD button.
12. In the GSTIN/Other Id for Challan Generation field, enter the GSTIN o Other ID.
13. Click the PROCEED button.
14. The Challan is generated.
15. You can also download the GST Challan by clicking the DOWNLOAD button.
16. The Challan is downloaded.
